How to choose a messaging and automation platform

From the Raqi team · Updated October 2026

Compare tools against your channels, team size and daily work, then check usage limits, cost and permissions. This guide describes the main types of tools in no particular order. It does not rank vendors.

The Raqi Channels page, where you connect Instagram, WhatsApp and your other channels

Start with the job you need done

You may need an automatic reply to comments, a team inbox, a link page or a workflow that runs several steps. Raqi covers these in one workspace, with free basic Auto-DMs and AI agents on paid plans. Use the categories below to work out which kind of tool your business needs.

    Raqi

Conversations and content in one workspace

Raqi brings an inbox, Auto-DMs, workflows, AI agents, Content Hub, Ads Studio and raqi.link pages into one workspace. Free includes unlimited basic Instagram and Messenger Auto-DMs. Paid plans start at $19 a month ($15 billed yearly) and add AI agents, workflows and the MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT. Creative Bridge, the plugin for After Effects and Premiere Pro, is free on every plan.

    What to look for

    • Free basic Instagram and Messenger Auto-DMs
    • Fixed plan limits, with no per-contact fees and no overage billing
    • English and Arabic interface, with AI agents that reply in 90 dialects

    What to check

    • Email and custom channels need the Scale plan
    • TikTok connects for publishing only, not for DMs

    Team inbox tools

For assigning conversations and supporting customers

If customer service comes first, look at assignment, permissions, reporting and channel coverage. Test how a conversation passes between an AI agent and a teammate.

    What to look for

    • Conversation assignment, team notes and a clear history
    • Coverage for the channels your customers use

    What to check

    • Review seat limits, channel limits and usage billing
    • Test the setup against a real task for your team

    Link page and creator tools

For organizing links, guides and content

If your business starts from a bio link, look at how links, guides and products are presented and what happens after someone taps. If you sell downloads, check payment and file delivery too.

    What to look for

    • One page that holds your links and resources
    • A setup that suits your audience

    What to check

    • Check whether the tool can send a link or guide by itself
    • Review how you reply when someone gets in touch

    Workflow builders

For repeated tasks with several steps

When the same sequence repeats, a tool that connects triggers, conditions and actions can take it over. Test failures, waits and team handoffs as well as the path where everything goes right.

    What to look for

    • Clear steps and editable templates
    • A record of what happened in each run

    What to check

    • Review action costs and run limits
    • Check permissions and retry behavior

    Comment-to-DM tools

For a quick reply to audience interest

If your task is to send a link after a comment, a focused setup may be enough. Check keywords, duplicate protection and each channel's messaging rules.

    What to look for

    • Simple setup for a post and its message
    • A link that matches what the person asked for

    What to check

    • Decide who handles the conversation when the customer replies

What types of messaging tools are there?

Most fall into four groups: team inboxes, link page and creator tools, workflow builders, and comment-to-DM tools. Some products, Raqi included, cover several groups in one workspace.

Is a free comment-to-DM tool enough?

It can be, if all you need is a link after a comment. Once people start asking questions in your DMs, you need an inbox to answer them and, as volume grows, an AI agent or a teammate.

How do I move my automations to a new tool?

Nothing moves across by itself. List each trigger, message and link you use today, rebuild one automation, test it on a single post, then move the rest.

Does an official API connection protect my account?

It removes the main risk of tools that log in with your password, but it does not guarantee your account against restrictions. Follow each platform's messaging rules and respect opt-out requests.
