Buttons, Tracked Links and Message Limits
Link and reply buttons, click tracking, the Link clicked condition, sharing a post, and how much each message can hold.
Workflows can send buttons that open a web page, buttons the customer taps to answer, and your own posts. This guide covers how they work and the limits each channel sets.
Tracked Link Buttons
Link buttons appear in the Buttons message step (up to 3 buttons), as link answers in Ask a question, and in the Payment link step. Each button needs a title and a full web address that starts with https:// or http://.
Tip: Turn on Wait for a reply in a Buttons message to follow up on a reply or on no reply. With it off, the next step runs right after the message.
- Track clicks is on by default. Each person gets their own short link, so Raqi knows who opened it. Raqi also adds utm parameters, so your analytics show the visit came from the DM.
- Tag to add on click (optional): a tag Raqi adds to the contact when they click, up to 64 characters.
- Button titles show up to 20 characters.
- Link previews and bots are not counted as clicks.
The Link Clicked Condition
In an If / Else step, choose Link clicked to branch on whether the person opened a tracked link:
Tip: A common pattern: send a link, wait a few hours (or choose Before the 24h window closes in the Wait step), then use Link clicked to remind only the people who did not open it. Instagram and Messenger refuse a message sent more than 24 hours after the person's last message, and on WhatsApp only a WhatsApp template goes out after that.
- Which clicks count: Clicked in this run, or Clicked in any run of this workflow.
- Which link: any tracked link, or one button of one step.
- Within the last: a number of hours, or Any time.
Link and Reply Buttons in One Question
In Ask a question, set each answer's Answer type to Reply or Link:
- A reply answer has its own branch, next to Other and No reply.
- A link answer opens its page and has no branch of its own. The question keeps waiting for a reply.
- On Instagram and Messenger, one message shows up to 3 buttons, links included, and a link answer needs an https:// address.
- WhatsApp can't put links and replies in one message, so each link arrives as its own message right after the question.
Share a Post
The Share a post step sends one of your posts or reels as the real post. Instagram gets the post itself, and Messenger gets a card with the post's picture and a View post button. On other channels, or when the card can't be shown, Raqi sends your text with the post link instead.
Tip: Write that fallback text in the step (up to 300 characters). A Facebook post shared on Instagram always goes as the text and its link.
Message Limits per Channel
Each channel limits how much one message can hold. The builder counts as you type, marks a step over the limit with Needs setup and won't publish it. Raqi never cuts your text: a message over the limit is not sent, and the run says why.
Tip: Instagram counts bytes: an Arabic letter counts as 2 and most emoji as 4. When a workflow has no Runs on channel, the strictest limits (Instagram) apply.
| Channel | Text message | Text with buttons | Button title | Photo or video caption |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 bytes (about 500 Arabic letters) | 640 characters | 20 characters | Sent as a separate message after the media | |
| Messenger | 2,000 characters | 640 characters | 20 characters | Sent as a separate message after the media |
| 4,096 characters | 1,024 characters | 20 characters | 1,024 characters | |
| Telegram | 4,096 characters | 4,096 characters | No limit | 1,024 characters |
