WhatsApp Business API

Connect your WhatsApp Business account to Raqi.

WhatsApp is the most popular messaging channel for businesses. Raqi connects via the official WhatsApp Cloud API from Meta.

Important: You need a Meta Business Account and a phone number that is NOT already registered on WhatsApp (personal or business app). You can use a new number or port an existing one.

    Prerequisites

Before connecting WhatsApp, make sure you have:

    • A Meta Business Account (create one at business.facebook.com)
    • A phone number not registered on any WhatsApp app
    • A Facebook Page linked to your Meta Business Account
    • Admin access to your Meta Business Account

    Step 1: Start the Connection

Navigate to Channels and click Connect Channel. Select WhatsApp from the channel list. This will open the connection wizard.

    Step 2: Authenticate with Meta

Click Connect with Facebook to open the Meta authentication popup. Log in with your Facebook account that has admin access to the Meta Business Account. Grant all requested permissions.

Warning: Make sure to grant ALL requested permissions. Missing permissions will cause the connection to fail or limit functionality.

Step 3: Select Your Business & Number

After authentication, select your Meta Business Account and the phone number you want to use. If you don't have a phone number registered yet, Meta will guide you through the process.

    Step 4: Verify & Complete

Meta will send a verification code to your phone number via SMS or call. Enter the code to complete the connection. Your WhatsApp channel will appear in the Channels page with a green "Connected" status.

    Message Templates

WhatsApp requires pre-approved templates for starting conversations after the 24-hour customer-service window. You can manage templates from Settings → Workspace → WhatsApp Templates.

Tip: If a customer hasn't messaged in the last 24 hours, you must use an approved template to reach out. Templates are reviewed and approved by Meta (usually within minutes).

    Troubleshooting

    Common issues and solutions:

    • "Phone number already registered" — The number is connected to another WhatsApp account. Remove it from the WhatsApp app first.
    • "Token expired" — Long-lived tokens expire after 60 days. Reconnect the channel to refresh.
    • "Messages not delivering" — Check your Meta Business Account status and WhatsApp quality rating.
    • Template rejected — Review Meta's template guidelines and resubmit with compliant content.
